4 Nations Academy Forum

Some of you already know that I've been slowly working on a roleplay forum that takes place at 4 Nations Academy, the high school from my modern Avatar world comic.

The idea is that the roleplay will take place in and around 4 Nations Academy, in a modern, Asian culture setting. Role-players may be the wealthy students enrolled at 4NA, local merchants, or school staff (with permission). We'll have some of the older teen and adult Avatar characters to interact with, along with many of the original characters from my comic and those made by my friends.

As I said, the role-play takes place in a modern Avatar world, but is still based strongly on Asian culture. Food, names, clothing, ect... will follow that pattern. There are several guides on the forum to help you create characters that fit into the setting and background of your choice, and I'm happy to help you out if you need a hand.

I've added some fairly strict anti-mary sue/stu guidelines for character set up, which I'm hoping will attract more serious story-tellers and role-players. It's meant to be a smaller, more private forum. Don't get me wrong. Anyone is welcome to come and set up a character and role-play, but there will be an extremely low tolerance for disrespecting other members/staff, godmoding and any other trouble.

The forum is set up as a fairly open environment. We will have some moving story-lines going, where characters are purposely placed to move the action for a certain plot, and everyone will have sections to set up their own plot lines. If you have a student character, you'll even have a shared dorm room with other students in your grade, from your Nation of origin. Or, if you're a teacher, you'll have your own classroom threads. There will also be open, free-for-all roleplays set up in the cafeteria and some fun locations around Kyoshi Island.

If you're still reading this, then I would really like your input. My comic starts about 1 month into a new school year because it's based around my original character Lil, who is transferred in then. For the forum, I'm considering starting at the beginning of the school year, before Lil goes there. It seems more fair to let everyone else build their characters from the beginning of the school year and the forum, is not based on my character or characters, of course. Any thoughts on this would be great. Is it better to start at the beginning of the school year? For me personally, I'll have to come up with some new plotlines to revolve around my other characters or Avatar characters.

Is there anyone who would like to volunteer to help with staffing? I'm keeping only a small, close staff. Mostly, we could use the help of someone who LIKES to read the role-play. The forum will have a pg-13 rating. Please keep this in mind if you're offended by somewhat mature content(such as mild swear worlds and teen make-out scenes). We could also use the help of someone who likes coming up with original plots and story-lines, especially if you're good at coming up with ideas that will work with other people's characters. I will only be taking a couple of volunteers, so please don't be offended if you volunteer and I don't have any more spots. I'm not planning to choose anyone until we get the role-play moving, but it would be nice to know who might like to help.

As soon as I get some more character profiles and icons finished and some simple plot-lines prepared, I will post the link so everyone can register. The goal is no later than Jan 4th (hopefully sooner). Oh, and I also started a DeviantArt group to go along with the forum and comic. I'll be posting the link to that as soon as I finish uploading.

This is the last week for me and my kids before holiday break from school. Thank goodness! I'm ready for a break, and then some.

I still have more holiday stuff to post soon, and I'd like to do some speedpaints for my sketch-a-day project.

My In-laws will be here next weekend, which is very exciting...and a bit stressful. There's just so much to do this year. I've gotta get back to printing and sending some holiday cheer now.

It's my son's 10th birthday! I can't believe he's so big already.

We just did a small, family party. His best friend came over for the day and my husband took both boys to the movies. We had his favorite snacks and dinner (pepperoni pizza, of course). He seems very happy with his presents, especially the laser tag set. Heh, we've all been taking turns playing with that. I whooped my 5-year-old daughter's booty at it.

This year he wanted to make and decorate his own cake(again, he's just so BIG!). He's playing his new DS game now. He looks so happy.

Okay, that's all the gushy updates I have for now. Back to drawing.
I'm mostly done with my Secret Santa, then I have a Christmas gift to work on. Both of those will be posted....closer to Christmas. Happy Holidays!

Snow!
It snowed today!...kind of. There was a slight sprinkling of snowflakes for about 20 minutes this afternoon.

It's funny. I live in Michigan and we haven't had any real snow around here yet. It usually starts in like...November or even October...and doesn't stop for long. Now Houston is getting snowstorms and it's just now getting cold here. I doubt we can keep it up, but it's nice for now.

Christmas.
My kids keep doing that thing where they say "Oh! I just changed my mind. I don't want "So and so" for Christmas, anymore. Now I want THIS! Ugh. Why do they only seem to do that after you've finished shopping for them. We keep telling them that Santa's going to get confused and forget to bring them a present if they don't stop changing their minds.

Just wanted to say, I miss having the Avatar fandom in full swing. There's still no other show that replaces it for me (or even comes close). I do still plan to finish my darn 4NA forum this Holiday Season. It is close to ready and I will have a 2 week break from school in late December.
