Sketch Dump

These are some of my sketches over the last few months. Most are from the last few weeks. I numbered them so you can jump quickly to the descriptions of just the ones you're curious about. Some were clearly meant to be more than just sketches, originally, but that I doubt I will finish.

1. An old Jet speedsketch. I posted this on LJ a few months ago. It was drawn on openCanvas and timed to...20 min...30 min? Can't remember.

2. Sketchbook sketch. Rather random. Done while out and about.

3. Digital sketch of Lil and Shu rollerblading. Rather shippy, eh? Can't help it. They're such a cute couple.... But I still promise, no big shippy stuff for 4NA. Feel free to ship the characters however you like.

4. I bought a small set of colored fabre Castel brush markers. This was my first sketch with them. It was completely random. More realistic style.

5. My second sketch with those colored fabre Castel brush markers. This one wasn't referenced, at all. I messed up on the leg she's holding up. Ahwellz.

6. (just realized that I forgot 6. I'm such a dork.)

7. (which is really 6 ) Water Sprites Hibernating perhaps. XD I don't know. This random idea I had for drawing icicles in the shape of women. Why? Because we've had some rather shapely icicles hanging from the roof. I couldn't quite capture this how I imagined with pencil, but I wanted to draw it before I forgot.

8. Same icicle woman concept, this time in watercolors. Or...watercolor markers, actually. Still couldn't get quite what I wanted. I AM still working on a digital version. I want them to look MORE like icicles. Will keep trying.

9. More Lil and Wu silly shippyness. Sorry. It must be that time of year. Obviously far from finished. Not sure I'll get back to it.

10. Birthday present for my friend! I won't tell you who the characters are....but I will say...I drew this the day after her birthday. Then I decided that it wasn't good enough and I was going to redraw it...but...I didn't redraw it...and now it's weeks after her birthday...and I should have just scanned the darn thing when I finished drawing it.

11. Drawn at my son's dentist appointment. Or, at least started there. Referenced from a magazine add...if it's not already obvious. XD

12. Referenced from a clothing add. A Khol's add, actually. XD I really liked this one, but as it's someone else's photograph, I don't intend to do more from it. Was good practice, though.

13. Test, test, test. Johnny Test. And Susan and Mary, of course. lol My kids watch this a lot. I encourage anything that's not on Nickelodeon. We've basically abandoned the network since it's mistreatment of Avatar and Spongebob. Oh, how could you. I used to love you so, when I was a child. Anyway.....I watch Cartoon Network with my kids now. This was half done while watching the show, then the other half finished with a random online reference for hair and clothes. Obviously in my style.

14. Ni Hao, Kai-lan! Well...there was this one exception to the no Nickelodeon rule. I was babysitting my neighbor's 2 year old daughter (who is adorable). She likes Dora and Diego and Kailan (I think that's how you spell it.) Anyway. I watched it with her...cause she's 2...and cute. XD And I drew her a picture of the character while she colored in an old Dora coloring book. Obviously my own version of her.

15. Random sketch. Drawn while watching Sky High with my kids. Not a great movie...but I still wanted to spend time with them, so I brought some sketchy supplies with me.

16. Drawn at McDonalds... I took Cadance there last Friday and was sketching while she played on the toys. We each had a happy meal, cause I needed a Hello Kitty watch for Audra since Cadance got one. I might finish this one.

17. Yes...yes that is another Lil and Shu picture. XD Also drawn with those fabre castell brush markers. I had to edit bits of it on the computer, though. The pink that I used on Lil's cheeks was WAY too bright pink. Wish I had a lighter one.
Anyway, you notice how Lil is dressed much warmer than Shu? She hates the cold. You'll hear more about that in the comic, though.
